Graceful, elegant, and gorgeous, the Orchid can take our breath away with her exotic, sculptural beauty. But there is more to the Orchid than just her intoxicating beauty. Just as a woman is both soft and strong, this complex yet delicate flower is the ultimate example of longevity and survival power.
The first ever flower to appear on Mother Earth a 100 million years before humans, weathering the harsh elements and eternal seasons, the Orchid is a perfection of Nature, a true gift to nurture the feminine essence of ageless beauty in you.
Universally considered one of the most beautiful and beneficial flowers, Orchids were dubbed as Lan Hua, ‘the epitome of elegance and human perfection’ in Ancient China. Charak, the great Indian medicine man, mentioned the benefits of several orchid species in his book Charak Samhita as far back as 125 A.D.
Research has been shown that Orchid extracts reduce the appearance of fine lines while its moisturising abilities help protect and repair the skin to restore and maintain a flawless skin tone.
In addition, recent advances in cellular bioenergetics, a brand of biochemistry that studies the flow of energy through living systems, suggest that orchid molecules may be able to repair decaying mitochondria, the powerhouse of cells, in humans.
Soul of Orchid Range is infused with the magic of the Queen of Orchids, Cattleya Labiata. With some of the most beautiful and colourful flowers and heady fragrances, Cattleyas have been romanticised by Orchid lovers since they were first discovered in 1818 in the jungles of Brazil.
Cattleyas were also called The Lost Orchids, as after this initial discovery, no one could find another sample of this then-rare orchid for more than 70 years. Since their rediscovery in 1889, the most beautiful and sought-after Cattleya has been the undisputed Queen of Orchids.
Not just gorgeous to look at, Cattleyas are very rich in the antioxidant, Anthocyanin (plant pigment responsible for the beautiful colours of orchids) which has four times the free radical neutralising ability of Vitamins C and E which makes it one of the most sought-after and potent plant extracts for gorgeous, glowing skin.
A more personal reason for our love of orchids is that our founder was born and brought up in Assam where Foxtail Orchid (Kopou Phool) is the state flower and an integral part of the Assamese culture. She grew up celebrating Bohag or Rongali Bihu marking the onset of the Assamese New Year and the coming of Spring where the female dancers wear beautiful mekhela chadors made from the golden silk, ‘Muga’ and adorn their hair with gorgeous Kopou Phool.
Watching the beautiful dancers adorned in all their finery, left an indelible mark on our founder, and the spirit of the festival, which is about celebrating love, happiness, animals and nature, is the inspiration for our love of nature in all its glory.
